I am honored to have received the following awards. It is gratifying to know that attention to detail and content is recognized and applauded. As a relative novice,I am inspired to continue to share uplifting information on my site and to sharpen my webmaster skills. Each award is linked directly to the site of the person who gave it. If there is no link, it is because that site has moved and I am unaware of the new URL. THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM just seems so appropriate for this page!
On February 12, 1999, I received my first award - the A LIGHT TO THE WORLDS
Award from Tim Rice. He wrote, "I have found your web pages to be inspiring and certainly more than meeting my qualifications. Reading your web pages excited me seeing all the accomplishments and reaching out you have done in your life. I really enjoyed reading the DECADES section and your pages on your quilts. My mom does some quilting,too, although it is more in the Pennsylvania Dutch or Amish/Mennonite style."
I received the BLUE RIBBON WEBSITE AWARD from Website Tool Center and Entertainment Online. D. Warren wrote, "CONGRATULATIONS! We have selected your website to win our prestigious award. This award is only given to websites which excel in all aspects of web design and is credited by the Internet's largest publishing companies, Yahoo, Zdnet, and CNet. So, in winning this award, you have successfully mastered every aspect of website construction and you should feel very proud. Congratulations once again...featuring your site in our new award winners page being indexed soon."
I have received the SHADOWOOD AWARD OF EXCELLENCE. Laurie wrote, "Congratulations! I am pleased and proud to present you with the prestigious and elusive Shadowood Award of Excellence for the wonderful work you've done developing a well-designed and worthy website. Your dedication to education, art, and legacy is apparent on every page of your site. Thank you for creating pages which both applaud and inspire grand achievement. It is my hope that you will accept this award as a well-earned acknowledgement of your own achievement in website creation."

On February 28, 1999, I received an Award that has touched my heart! Debby Jackson wrote, " Congratulations Marlene! You're the latest recipient of Debby's Web Page Award! Please accept my award and my sincere thank you for making cyberspace a nicer place to visit. I feel like I'm the one who won an award. Visiting your pages has been such a wonderful experience. Your love for your family and heritage just shines through in your pages and in your accomplishments. ...My regular BEAUTIFUL WEB SITE AWARD just didn't seem to say what I wanted it to about your page, so I hope you'll accept this award that I made JUST FOR YOU. Anyone can make a beautiful web site, but you put your heart into giving a part of yourself and your life to all of those who are so fortunate to visit Marlene's Place, and it shows".
I received this beautiful award on March 4, 1999 from STAMPTEACH, a retired teacher, who has done an extensive genealogical study of her family. She wrote," Marlene, I am SO impressed with your website. ...Of course your site deserves my AWARD OF EXCELLENCE! You obviously had wonderful parents who instilled great values in their CHILDren.[Marlene's note-I'm an only child.] ...My great grandfather was an abolitionist. He helped slaves escape in the Lookout Mountain area of AL-GA. He hid them in caves. He once got angry with a neighbor and guided HIS slaves to freedom. ...I taught school for 31 years...".
The Caring Angel states, "I hope you will enjoy your award (CHRISTIAN SITE AWARD)...You deserve it with all the hard work you did. I'm glad to give my award out to you. And congratulations."
The Artmaker states that the GOLD CHARM AWARD "is given for a site that is attractive, well designed, and linked well within the structure."
